Intermediate and Senior Modern and Tap, Pointe Work
Helen trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Her professional teacher training then took place under the expert guidance of Elizabeth Harrison and Linda Sweetzer.
Helen graduated a three year teacher training diploma course and has gained Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) associate teaching qualifications in Classical Ballet, National, Modern and Tap as well as achieving London Academy of Musical and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) qualifications. She then gained the ISTD Certificate in Dance Education in all four subjects. Helen has also achieved ISTD higher level professional Licentiate status in Tap and in Modern.
Helen is an ISTD approved tutor, training dance teachers for all aspects of the ISTD Diploma in Dance Instruction and Diploma in Dance Education teaching qualifications at a teacher training college in Maidenhead Berkshire where she is the Head of Academic Studies.
Performance credits include dancing and singing in shows at; The London Palladium; Her Majesties Theatre; The Palace Theatre; Avondale Theatre and The Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland (Paris) as well as acting on national television and performing commercially. Choreographic work includes; The Beck Theatre; The Winston Churchill Theatre; The London Palladium and Disneyland. As well as previously also producing, directing, writing and stage managing shows for theatre schools.
Singing, Contemporary, Jazz, Performers Group
Lauren trained professionally at Laine Theatre Arts, graduating with her National Diploma in Musical Theatre (TRINITY, London). During her time at Laine’s she taught at their annual summer school helping in the musical theatre department which gave her a great insight into different teaching techniques and ideas she could carry into her own teaching. In the 3 years she was training she also set up weekly musical theatre workshops where she met some amazingly talented students who have now gone on to train professionally at various prestigious colleges including Italia Conti, Tring and Urdang.
Since graduating Lauren has had an extensive performing career and has been part of numerous top west end and touring musicals. Most recently, Lauren played the role of Liz Holt in Strictly Ballroom at the Piccadilly Theatre in London’s West End. Some of her other theatre credits include Amber in Hairspray, Cover Glinda in Wicked (West End) and Frenchy in Grease (UK Tour);
Whilst busy with her performing career Lauren has never stopped teaching, doing numerous workshops of the shows she has been in, freelance choreography for festivals and shows in the area and private one to one lessons for young performers who are looking to audition for full time college.
Aydin Ord Dip. RBSTCPD.
Senior and Vocational Ballet.
Aydin trained at the the State Conservatory in Ankara, Tanz Academy in Berlin and on the teacher training course for professional dancers at the Royal Ballet School in London.
Aydin has worked with choreographers and teachers including: Rudolph Nureyev, Todd Bolender, Peter Van Dyke and Valerie Adams. She has performed professionally in many classical ballets and productions with the Ankara and Istanbul State Ballet companies including: Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, Carmen, Faust, My Fair Lady and Fiddler on the Roof. Aydin is a teaching member of the Royal Academy of Dance, and has been teaching, choreographing and entering students for all levels of RAD exams since 1991.
Joanne Jones RAD RTS.
Junior and Intermediate Ballet.
Joanne started dancing age 7 at the Patricia Stevens School of Dance. Throughout her childhood she trained here and also at the Royal Academy of Dance, taking examinations, dancing in many competitions, local performances and performing at the Sadlers Wells theatre with Young Stars of Tomorrow.
She graduated from the Urdang Academy with her teaching diploma,ISTD modern and tap elementary level, Cecchetti ballet,GCSE history of Ballet and the Royal Academy of Dance Teaching Certificate.
Joanne has been teaching ballet,choreographing and entering students for all levels of RAD exams since 1988, co running two dance schools along the way.
She is now teaching ballet for local dance schools and is looking forward to joining HTDC to share her passion for ballet.
Natalie Venier DDI
Junior Ballet, Tap and Modern.
Natalie began dancing aged 5 at the Georgian School of Dancing and then moved through into HTDC where she trained until she was 19. She then continued her training at the Margaret Howard Theatre College, working in all aspects of dance, musical theatre and performance. Natalie also achieved Advanced 2 level Tap and Modern, as well as her ISTD Diploma in Dance Instruction for Tap and Modern.
Natalie has various performance experience including dancing on board MSC Cruise liners, performing at Sadlers Wells, at Malta’s National Theatre and the Watford Palace Theatre.
Rachael Bates AISTD.
Junior Ballet, Tap, Modern and Boy’s Street Dance.
Rachael started dancing at the age of 3 at the Lynne Chilver School of Dancing, taking classes in Modern, Tap, Ballet, National and Disco. Rachael danced with the National Youth Ballet, performing at The Royal Opera House and has taken part in national competitions and festivals, including the All England Finals.
Performance experience has been gained in a variety of shows, musicals, pantomimes and with many dance companies. Rachael has been a member of Alter Ego Street Company and has performed with Krupa Entertainment over the past few years. She has choreographed numerous musicals, flash mobs and recently organised a show for a fostering charity.
After gaining a distinction in BTEC dance, she then completed her teaching qualifications at the Margaret Howard Theatre College. Rachael is a qualified Ballet, Tap, Modern and Freestyle teacher and recently completed her ADPA qualification in teaching. She has been teaching professionally for over 10 years and she loves making her classes fun and challenging for her students.
Wendy Brackley ARAD (ADV), FISTD.
Wendy starting dancing classes with a local teacher following polio as a child, she then completed her training at The Arts Educational school in London. Wendy has over 45 years of teaching experience and her career has covered all aspects of dancing including teaching posts at Elmhurst Ballet School, Hurst Lodge, Wellington College and Eton. She has choreographed for many local amateur musical societies, twelve Beck Summer Youth Projects and several BYT shows (Wendy was chairman of BYT for 15 years). Wendy is a highly qualified teacher of the RAD and ISTD.
